Our Story: From Crumbcoat Cakes for a Cause and Share N’ Dipity to The Bakehouse
The Bakehouse at Maple Lake was born from a deep-rooted love for baking and community. It all began with Crumbcoat Cakes for a Cause, Monica’s personal initiative to create stunning custom cakes while raising funds for the Salt and Light Foundation. For years, Monica’s cakes provided an avenue to support families in need in Sri Lanka, and this mission-driven passion laid the foundation for what was to come.
Simultaneously, Todd and Darlene Mast were building Share N’ Dipity, a beloved neighborhood bakery offering handmade breads, croissants, and pastries. For five years, they created a loyal following and shared their expertise and recipes with the community.
In 2024, these two beautiful traditions merged as Monica and Rick Badgley took over the bakery, reimagining it as The Bakehouse at Maple Lake. Monica, an award-winning cake designer, continues to create artistic cakes with the same passion that started Crumbcoat Cakes for a Cause, while Rick, a U.S. Air Force veteran, brings his commitment to service and community. Together, they continue the legacy of high-quality baking while keeping the mission of giving back at the heart of the bakery.
Our Vision and Mission
At The Bakehouse at Maple Lake, our vision is simple but powerful:
“To make a sustainable, positive impact by helping impoverished communities in developing countries through our commitment to exceptional artisanal baked goods and community support.”
Our mission is to delight customers with artisanal breads, cakes, and pastries crafted with the finest ingredients while fostering a sense of community and generosity. 100% of our profits go directly to the Salt and Light Foundation, which provides food for families in poverty in Sri Lanka. Every purchase at The Bakehouse contributes to a meaningful cause—Generosity Baked In.
Monica and Rick Badgley are dedicated to continuing the legacy of The Bakehouse while looking toward the future with new products and exciting events, like our Salt & Light Breaking Bread Events. We invite you to join us, whether it’s to enjoy a fresh loaf of bread, order a custom cake, or participate in our mission to make a positive impact.
Thank you for being part of our journey. Your daily bread purchases their daily bread.
