Why Maple Lake?

A Piece of Local History

Discover the Legacy of Maple Lake Park

The Bakehouse at Maple Lake is more than just a name; it’s a tribute to a cherished piece of local history. Maple Lake was located on Maple Street between South Linden Road and Oakwood Drive. It was originally called the South Park Extension and then Maple Street Lake Park. Nestled in what was once the vibrant Maple Lake Park, our bakery brings the spirit of community and joy that thrived here in the early 20th century. Established in the early 1900s, Maple Lake Park was a beloved recreational destination for families and friends. Visitors enjoyed leisurely rowboat rides, picnics, and lively gatherings by the serene waters of Maple
Lake. Although the lake itself no longer exists, the memories and traditions it fostered live on through our dedication to community and craftsmanship.

At The Bakehouse at Maple Lake, we honor this legacy by creating a warm, inviting space where you can savor artisanal breads, pastries, and more, all made with the same sense of care and community that defined Maple Lake Park. Join us in celebrating the rich history of our neighborhood, one delicious bite at a time.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to local historian Tim McKee, whose insightful article inspired “At Maple Lake” through his heartfelt and thorough writing.
